Music Director | Writer | Actor

Welcome to my website!

Hey there! I’m Caleb McCarroll, I use he/him pronouns, and I am a proud native of Raytown, Missouri, a little suburb of Kansas City. I made the big move to New York City in August of 2024 and am now based in the heart of Manhattan. The McCarroll family tree is known for their artistic sensibilities; I was born into a family of singers and musicians, so in a lot of ways, the musical route felt very natural to me, and simultaneously, choosing music for my career felt like my own decision. I am a music lover of all genres: Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Aretha Franklin, Dodie, Big Time Rush (yes, I said Big Time Rush), Lauryn Hill, Charlie Puth, James Taylor, The Arcadian Wild, you name it. In addition to pop, R&B, and folk music, I am a lover of musical theatre and opera; I am on a never-ending mission to collect the perfect repertoire list of arias for every fach, while also attempting to recall Sondheim’s full catalogue at the drop of a hat. I want to challenge my clients to do research and uncover all of the mysteries in the music and text — something that transcends genre. I strive, more than anything, to encourage and lift up others through the beauty of art.

Beyond the performing arts, I am a lover of languages and am training to be a polyglot. I love baseball — I grew up playing it and it helps rekindle that childlike sense of play we all need to tap into every once in a while. Go Royals! I enjoy cooking and expanding my palate beyond the typical flavors midwesterners enjoy. I’m a dog person, for sure (I’m allergic to cats).

Enjoy your stay!

Testimonials

“I think I speak for all of us when I say that [Caleb] is awe-inspiring to work with. He reads my mind and knows how to make good art and how to make art good.”

— Jacob T.

“Caleb had this spark of joy, encouragement, and love that lifted my spirit. I would look over at the piano, and the sheer love of what he does was radiant. His kind words reminded me of why I fell in love with theatre from the beginning.”

— Rachel B.

“Caleb’s solo music is like if Billy Joel wrote the music and Phoebe Bridgers wrote the lyrics; a perfect marriage of the melancholic and the exuberant.”

- Molly W.

“I often find myself working closely with a lot of our staff, and oftentimes being the one supporting them when they lead instruction. By far, one of my favorite people to work with is Caleb McCarroll. His enthusiasm and optimism creates such a positive space for students and for fellow staff. The environment he creates is one where it’s okay to make mistakes, and where no success is too small to celebrate. Students are always visibly eager to work on their goals with Caleb, both personally and as a class.”
